The project involves the construction of track, electric traction (TE), lighting and power supply (LFM), telecommunications (TLC), and signaling systems (IS) for the doubling of the Campoleone-Aprilia railway line, located along the southern axis of Lazio. The project is part of a broader program to upgrade the regional and national railway network, improving the capacity, reliability, and efficiency of the service along one of the strategic railway corridors for metropolitan and interregional connections.
The contract covers the detailed design and construction of the following systems:
• Railway superstructure: laying of new tracks alongside the existing line, including ballast, sleepers, and rails in accordance with RFI standards
• Electric traction (TE): installation of the contact line and 3kVdc power supply systems, including supports, foundations, and sectioning
• LFM (lighting and power) systems: construction of electrical systems for stations, tunnels, underpasses, level crossings, and technological buildings
• Telecommunications systems (TLC): laying of cables, panels, and equipment for data and voice transmission between stations, control rooms, and on-board systems
• Signaling systems (IS): installation and activation of signaling equipment for the safe management of the new track and integration with the existing system
• Doubling of line capacity, with the possibility of running more passenger and freight trains
• Increased punctuality and regularity of service, thanks to the separation of traffic flows
• Reduction in waiting times and conflicts between trains entering and leaving stations
• Improved safety and reliability of facilities
• Potential for development of metropolitan and regional services
The doubling of the Campoleone–Aprilia line is a fundamental project for upgrading the railway infrastructure in Lazio, making rail transport more competitive, resilient, and capable of responding to the growing mobility needs of the region.
